Interview with Danny Darling...

ICWF "Off The Ropes" Report with Peter Hartin – June 13th, 2008 Edition

Well, fans this is the first interview edition of ICWF "Off the Ropes" Report. I’m here with Delicious Danny Darling. I’d like to start by thanking Danny for taking the time out of his busy schedule to answer the questions I have made for him. First off Danny, how did you get interested in professional wrestling?

Danny: Well, I've always been interested in Professional Wrestling. Ever since I was young I wondered what it would be like to perform in front of a crowd of large magnitude. Granted I haven't gotten there yet but I will.

Well, I’m sure there are plenty of other wrestlers who share the reason why you became interested in professional wrestling. You’ve been in the wrestling business for quite some time now but the fans want to know, how many years have you been in the wrestling business, and how many matches do you think you’ve had so far?

Danny: I have been in the wrestling business for 4 ½ years and still going strong. As for how many matches I’ve had, honestly I really couldn’t tell you. But, if I had to guess I would say around 100.

That’s certainly a lot of matches and I know you are proud of every single one that you have competed in. Among those matches you’ve had countless ones with Valek whether he was your tag team partner or your opponent. Based on the past events between the two of you, what is your opinion of Valek?

Danny: He's a good friend. Valek and I haven’t always seen eye to eye but in the end we are still friends.

I agree with you that he is a good friend. I haven’t known him as long as you have but for as long as I’ve known him he has been a good friend. Last time you were in an ICWF ring you agreed to go with Valek to Florida to train with the Dudley Boys. However you haven’t left yet, why is that?

Danny: There are a number of reasons I haven't left for Florida yet. But, I can only think of one overall answer...My Son.

Family definitely means a lot to you because of the traveling required by wrestling. While in the ICWF you and Valek formed the Underworld, which was a dominant tag team in the ICWF and other promotions. However, after a while you turned on Valek and broke out on your own, eventually becoming the ICWF Heavyweight Champion. The question on everyone’s mind is, would you ever reform The Underworld with Valek?

Danny: Of course I would. We were a great team and we know each other like the back of our hands, and knowing that...makes a great team.

There’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that the Underworld was a dominant tag team. It’s good to know that the possibility of a Underworld reunion is still upon us. However, while you reigned as ICWF Heavyweight Champion you and Valek competed in an Ultimate X Match, a match made famous in TNA, at Wrestling Reunion. The match has to be called the most hard fought battle between the two of you. You both took it to the extreme but in the end Valek walked out victorious. Looking back on that day can you think of anything you would have done differently?

Danny: Honestly I don't think there was anything else I could do. What happened couldn't have happened any other way.

On the topic of TNA, it has been said that the ICWF is a huge supporter of TNA wrestling. If you had to choose between a WWE contract or a TNA contract where would you see yourself going?

Danny: I would definitely go to TNA. I love the Six Sided Ring. Plus, TNA isn't Vince's Land of Giants.

The six-sided ring is definitely a whole different experience than the four-sided ring. Seeing as the ICWF had a six-sided ring as well you’ve already gotten used to the feel of the ring, which is also a major plus. I wish you luck in a future with TNA as I know you’ll make it as you are working hard to make your dream come true like many other wrestlers. There has been this long rivalry between ICWF and CRASH Wrestling. It has been said that Valek has had a real problem with certain folks from CRASH Wrestling. What are your thoughts on this and do you feel Valek is in the wrong?

Danny: Well, I'm not going to get into all that. CRASH Wrestling is dead now. So, there is no need to talk about it.

I understand your position on not getting into it once again. Another promotion running around the same time as the ICWF was HALO. What are your thoughts on the former wrestling promotion, HALO?

Danny: My thoughts? My thoughts are that a self-trained fool ran HALO and it was a backyard wrestling promotion.

While HALO was running, the ICWF was hit with a hard blow when the ICWF Ground Zero Wrestling School was burnt to the ground on June 7th, 2006. Give us your thoughts on this horrific day?

Danny: It was a sad day for us. We never would have thought something like that could happen. But, we bounced right back stronger than before and continued doing what we do best...Entertain.

Nobody foresaw this horrific event. It delivered a blow to the ICWF but the ICWF came back stronger and they are still alive today approaching their 7-year anniversary mark. After the fire occurred though, Halo Wrestling named their street team to "Slowly Starting Fire." Does this raise any suspicions that they had a part in the fire?

Danny: Well, it could be mere coincidence or it could not. But, if what is being implied in your question is true...I hope he gets what's coming to him.

The ICWF rebuilt itself after the tragic event. Running for 7 years now they have defeated many obstacles in their path. Give us your thoughts on ICWF as a company itself from the beginning and to now?

Danny: From the beginning people thought we were a joke. At first I would say we were. I mean we were just starting out. When ICWF first started running shows I was still in Training. Today ICWF has had many shows and they got better and better. Now...ICWF is in Florida doing what it does.

I couldn’t agree more about the ICWF getting better and better. The ICWF being in Florida provides many opportunities for them including new talent introduced into the ICWF. The final question I’m going to ask is a question that fans want to know the answer to. Where do your loyalties lay?

Danny: I'm going to take a different approach on this question. You see wrestling has blinded me from certain things in my life. It has blinded me from my family...my job...and most importantly my little boy. You see if I had to give up wrestling to be with my son I would. I can have countless shows and entertain thousands...but I only get to watch him grow up once. So, in saying that I guess my loyalties lie with my son.

Alright Danny thanks for your time. Glad you could make history as the first person to be featured in an interview-style report. I wish you luck with your career and I always enjoy meeting your son as he’s just like his father. The fans look forward to seeing you in an ICWF ring soon.

Danny: Thank You

Well, fans look forward for another in-depth and personal interview, as there are still four more interviews to be conducted.
